The MTV Video Music Awards (VMA’s) have always been known for controversial, wild, and crazy performances and antics from various celebrities. For whatever reason, celebrities have always felt the need to push boundaries and limits with their performances, comments, wardrobe, or overall behavior. Pop singers especially like the push the boundaries. Those who grew up as a “teen pop star” or a “Disney star” tend to use the MTV VMA’s as a way to shed their “sweet” and “innocent” image and to let the world know that they have grown up and out of their Disney mouse ears.

Take for instance the 2000 VMA’s when Britney donned a sparkly thong, bra, sparkles, and not much else. She just wanted everyone to know that she’s “not that innocent”…and believe me, everyone noticed…and talked about it for days.

Miley Cyrus’s performance at last night’s VMA’s throws Britney out of the ballpark and makes her performance look like child’s play. Many still remember Miley as the sweet little Hannah Montana from the now defunct Disney show. However, Miley is doing her best to show her audience that those days are over. Unfortunately, Miley forgets that most of her audience is still made of teen and pre-teen girls who for whatever reason still look up to her as a positive role model. Miley, if you care at all about being a positive role model to these girls than you failed…miserably.

The reaction to Miley’s performance has been extremely negative. Many people feel that it was trashy, ungraceful, slutty, distasteful, or as my dad put it “pure pornography that will probably be banned from YouTube soon. Celebrities didn’t seem to enjoy it either. When the camera turned to other celebrities in the audience many of them had blank, uncomfortable looks on their faces.

I am having a difficult time wrapping myself around the performance and putting into words just what made it so bad. There was next to no clothes on Cyrus. There was tongue…lots of it. She groped people and inanimate objects, she nuzzled Robin Thicke’s neck, she slapped a backup dancer’s ass, I’m pretty sure she even masturbated with a foam finger while on stage.

Is or isn’t the Nsync reunion taking place at this Sunday’s MTV VMA’s?
Joey Fatone is siding with Lance Bass by saying that the MTV VMA reunion IS NOT happening! However, his recent arrival in NYC, home of MTV’S VMA’s days before the big event seems kind of suspicious!

When questioned about his arrival in NYC, Fatone claimed it was for his cousin’s surprise 40th Birthday party in Staten Island because clearly that is a much bigger deal than reuniting at the VMA’s. LOL!
Fatone was also asked about whether or not he would be at the VMA’S on Sunday night. His response was:
Why the hell would I attend? I mean, for Justin obviously, he’s getting the Vanguard Award, which is cool. We heard about that, and that’s when the rumors started flying about doing all this stuff. Ha his response sounds a bit bitter about not being invited to Justin’s wedding. However, it also sounds like he’s trying a bit too hard to keep the VMA reunion a secret. You might remember last year when Destiny’s Child was rumored to perform at the Super Bowl Michelle Williams tried to deny the rumors by stating that she was appearing in the musical Fela! the night of the super bowl and wouldn’t be able to make it. However, that was later proven to be a lie as Destiny’s Child did, in fact, reunite for the Super Bowl.

If we hear of other Nsync members (other than Justin of course) arriving in NYC we’ll known the reunion is on!

Nsync fans hoping for a reunion may have to hold off a bit longer because according to Lance the reunion is NOT HAPPENING…or at least not at this year’s MTV VMA’s.
Bass addressed the rumors last night on his SiriusXM show, “Dirty Pop With Lance Bass” by stating:
I have to address the rumors…this morning I woke up to a lot of rumors flying [around] that the NSYNC reunion is happening after eleven years at the VMAs this Sunday. Well, let me tell you how this all came about. Justin Timberlake is getting the Michael Jackson [Video] Vanguard Award this Sunday at the awards, so of course people are automatically going to think we’re going to be there performing, but this is exactly how it happened and I knew these rumors were going to fly. We all came down here [to Miami] except for J.C. [Chasez]—J.C. stayed in California, he had to work…Joey [Fatone], Chris [Kirkpatrick] and myself went to go see Justin’s last show with Jay Z at the [Sun Life] Stadium last Friday, and I even took a picture of it, it’s on my Instagram…
Although the news may seem to be a bit of a disappointment upon first glance, fans must remember that Bass didn’t entirely deny an N’sync reunion, but rather a VMA reunion. He seems amazed by the positive response shown by fans over social media as the news of the alleged reunion broke out which is good.

It is also possible that Bass is lying about denying the reunion in order to try to keep it as a surprise. VMA’s are known for surprises, twists, and big musical performances. However, they are not always good at keeping their “surprises” a secret. Past worst-kept secrets include Britney Spears’s 2007 (failed) VMA comeback performance and Janet Jackson’s 2009 Michael Jackson VMA tribute.
Lady Gaga, who is scheduled to perform at Sunday Night’s VMA’s recently commented in an interview with DJ Maxwell”
I’m actually very excited that *NSYNC is making a comeback at the VMAs. I feel like I’m 15!
Gaga might know for sure if Nsync is reuniting as she may have been working alongside them for rehearsals and other show-related business.

It is being reported that Justin Timberlake may be reuniting with his former band-mates from Nsync at this year’s MTV VMA’s.

Timberlake will receive The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at this year’s VMA’s to honor his successful solo music career. It is rumored that as he accepts the award he will first reunit with Nsync for the first Video Music Award performance as a band since 2001’s performance of their hit single, “Pop”. This could be a nice tribute to Timberlake’s former boy band days that are largely responsible for his successful solo career.

The MTV VMA’s will air on MTV on August 25th at 9pm. MTV has yet to confirm or deny the rumors of Nsync’s reunion.
